Bharatrath is creating Retail 3.0 – an alternate retail ecosystem of non-industrial micro entrepreneurs providing local, authentic & curated quality products, far superior from the traditional industrial products available in your local kirana store or supermarket.

Our vision is to provide a direct platform to millions of micro entrepreneurs throughout India to connect to hundreds of millions of middle-class customers. We aspire to be a single umbrella, under which everyone can discover the superior products made by their local producers.

None of the farm/food products that come to our tables, come directly from the farm. Everything goes through some post-harvest processing. The simplest example is wheat, which also needs cleaning & grading. This has led to industrialization, where local farmers or producers do not stand a chance.

However, today consumers are expecting farm/food products with consistent quality, year around availability across the country. For something that is perishable, seasonal & regional, this is not possible.

So, what ends up happening is that almost everything we consume or buy, goes through some kind of chemical treatment. Even in non-food categories, the artisanship from traditional methods is lost, which is really heart wrenching to see.

This is where Bharatrath comes in. We are combining good with modern. The good is the natural form of our food products. The good is uniqueness of traditional artisanship, as against the assembly line production. The good is sustainable eco-friendly products as compared to the harmful chemicals.

The modern part of our equation is the technology, supply chain, operations & sales channels – we are bringing to this unorganized industry.

Bharatrath works with farmers, women groups, artisans, tribals, NGOs, local entrepreneurs and such to bring their quality products to customers. We are already host to more than 120 such micro entrepreneur groups providing exclusive platform to more than 1300 quality curated products.

In the food category, Bharatrath is offering products with no or min processing done, with better ingredients and wherever possible organic/residue free alternatives. Just because someone is local, doesn’t mean they get automatic right to be on Bharatrath platform. Their products must be better than their industrial counterparts available in Kirana stores or supermarkets.

You might be thinking how does Bharatrath products are superior?

- Instead of packaged Atta with inferior grains and other additives, Bharatrath offers fresh made to order Chakki Atta made with superior grains.

- Our paneer is fresh made to order without preservatives, just like you’d make at home.

- Our breads are fresh without preservatives, not much different than our homemade chapattis.

- Our grains are only graded and cleaned, without any other processing.

- Our masala’s, papads & mixes are handmade, like how they were made traditionally.

In non-food category,

- We are bringing eco-friendly cleaners and soaps.

- We offer bamboo based utensils, instead of plastic single use party items.

- We only have cloth or jute handmade bags made by rural women in Raigad & Thane.

We are not only making these products easily available — we are making them cool again.

Currently, team Bharatrath is working in various districts of Maharashtra to organize our quality micro-entrepreneurs and create a sustainable market for them in Pune & Mumbai. We are marching on with our goal to expand our operations (supply chain as well as sales) in the entire state of Maharashtra.

Eventually we will organize millions of micro entrepreneurs throughout India, bring their products to hundreds of millions of middle class customers, make our traditional Bhartiya products cool again and truly realize the dream of aatma nirbhar Bharat!
